Around Lugu Lake

April 23 2013: Around Lugu Lake

Morning view from our room
A day to “relax”, so we set out on another very pleasant trek out along a peninsular ridge heading into the lake, past an interesting old working farm with a water buffalo towing a traditional plough, up on to the ridge, then along to a white stupa at the end which was a super viewpoint of the lake. We had lovely clear blue sky to  start, though it clouded over as we walked.

Ducklings!

Happy Tinnies!

For a contrast, Jackson took us to a more modern, rather big hotel for lunch - good food, but a weird, empty place that brought memories of The Shining!

And then on to another boat trip to a small Buddhist temple on an island out in the lake. Rather a lot of tourists, but a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Do as you are told!

The best fun was coming home, where the helmsman agreed  to let us help him, dragon boat style, but with only 2 extra paddles. I started, but quickly passed the paddle on to someone stronger, and with Canadian canoeist Jeff on the other side , we creamed all the other boats on the way home!
